Our Vision
Football is not simply what we do, it is the environment in which young people learn, grow and rediscover confidence in themselves. Through the power of teamwork, positive relationships and shared success, we help young people realise that they are capable of achieving far more than they ever believed possible.
Our curriculum, The Game Plan, has been designed around one simple belief: just as every successful football team relies on every player, every young person deserves adults who believe in them, teammates who encourage them and an environment where they feel safe enough to learn.

Our Philosophy
Relationships First
Everything begins with relationships. We know that young people learn best when they feel safe, valued, understood, connected and successful. Before learning can flourish, trust must be built. We invest time in developing meaningful relationships with every young person, recognising that positive relationships are the foundation for confidence, engagement and achievement.
Restorative Practice
At Kick Start Futures, we believe behaviour is communication. Rather than asking “what punishment does this young person deserve?”, we ask what has happened, what the behaviour may be communicating, who has been affected, how we can repair relationships, and what support is needed moving forward.
Our restorative approach helps young people understand the impact of their choices whilst protecting their dignity, strengthening relationships and promoting accountability. Our aim is not simply to manage behaviour — it is to help young people develop the skills to make better choices in the future.
Trauma-Informed Practice
Many young people arrive with experiences of anxiety, exclusion, trauma or repeated educational failure. We understand that behaviour often reflects unmet needs rather than deliberate defiance. Our staff create calm, predictable environments where young people feel emotionally safe enough to take risks, make mistakes and experience success.
PACE
Every interaction is guided by the principles of PACE — Playfulness (creating enjoyable learning experiences where young people feel relaxed enough to engage), Acceptance (valuing every young person without judgement whilst maintaining high expectations), Curiosity (seeking to understand before reacting), and Empathy (recognising emotions and responding with kindness, consistency and compassion).

Football gives young people opportunities to experience success, manage setbacks, celebrate others and understand that everyone has an important role to play. Our aim is not to create professional footballers — our aim is to create confident, resilient young people who believe they can succeed in education, employment and life.
